***FALL BIBLE STUDY FOR 2024***
Psalms: Our Book of Prayer and Praise Each time we participate in Mass we pray the psalms as we move through our readings, yet we know so little about them. Most are not aware that there are 150 and that in that 150 they are broken up into five sections to mimic the first five books of the Old Testament. Want to know more? Join us this fall as we study the book of Psalms. We hear them in our music, pray them at Mass, even feel a sense of familiarity with the more popular ones like the 23rd Psalm, but do we know when they were written or why, by whom. And like poetry sometimes the language can be confusing and obscure. Once again Theresa Lisiecki will lead a ten-week study that hopes to open up this wonderful resource through study and discussion. Who knows, we might even learn a bit more about the practice and principles of personal prayer. This class will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 to 11:30 am in the Parish Center Emmaus Room. Sessions will begin Wednesday, September 11th and run for a total of ten consecutive weeks. There is no registration nor fees. All that is required is your time and attention. We will even provide bibles. Sessions will be taped and put up on our website for those who are unable to attend in person. For more information contact Theresa at [email protected]. |
Are You Interested in Further Exploring the Weekend Readings? How about joining the Emmaus Journey for 2024.
The Mass is meant to be the core of our faith, and the Readings the lantern that guides our lives. Yet, all too often, once we return to our cars, we don't remember what we just heard. Several years ago, a small group began to gather for the purpose of exploring the Sunday readings so as to understand and therefore apply God's Word into our daily lives. We would love to expand our number and have you join this group. We meet every other weekend, on Sunday mornings at 11:15am in the Social Area of the Church. We share coffee, conversation and information in a friendly dialogue. All lead by Theresa Lisiecki. Please consider signing up for FLOCKNOTE where you can get up-to-date notices and/or cancellations of classes that we offer for Adult Education. |
