Dear Parishioner:
I hope this letter finds you well and you continue to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus during these fifty days of the Easter Season!
Each year, the Archdiocese of Detroit sponsors the Catholic Services Appeal, the CSA. The CSA provides funding for the many programs and ministries offered by the Archdiocese to the People of God in southeast Michigan, our parishes and Catholic institutions as detailed in the enclosed brochure.
Each Archdiocesan parish is given a mandatory CSA target; our 2024 CSA Target is $150,531. If we do not meet the target, the parish pays the shortfall from the parish’s general operating budget. However, if we meet our target, the full amount of the overage remains here at the parish to be used at our discretion.
Many parishioners make a large donation at Christmas but I’m asking that you consider making your large contribution to the CSA instead. In this way more of your donation stays at St. Colette rather than being assessed by the Archdiocese or factoring into next year’s CSA target.
To surpass this year’s CSA Target, we need to challenge ourselves to sacrifice a little more. I’m asking each household to consider a donation of $275 to the CSA, a larger donation if you’re able or less to the best of your ability. Please remember, what is being asked is not an equal gift but an equal sacrifice by everyone. This year I am offering $300.00 to the CSA. This is in addition to what I contribute to the parish in my weekly contribution envelopes. I invite you to join me and offer the gift that is right for you!
To contribute to this year’s CSA, please use the enclosed donation form and envelope. Make checks payable to: Archdiocese of Detroit-CSA. We ask that you mail our donation directly to the processing center and not drop them at the parish or in the weekend collection basket.
Please remember that a donation to the CSA is the most effective and beneficial way to give a significant donation to St. Colette Parish in addition to your weekly contributions. Let me take this opportunity to “thank you” in advance for your participation in this year’s Catholic Services Appeal. May God bless you for your continued support and generosity.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
