Reconciliation
The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as confession or penance) has three elements: conversion, confession, and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional mercy and forgiveness; as a result we are called to forgive others.
Children going into their fourth grade year or older are at an age where they can prepare to receive their First Reconciliation. Preparation for this sacrament begins in the fall with reception of the sacrament in late January. Preparation involves three in-person meetings which include classroom time for the students, plus two lessons that need to be done at home. Following preparation there are two additional dates: a rehearsal in the Church and the celebration of the Sacrament. |
